Tanzania Safari and Zanzibar
| March 4 – 12, 2023

A safari that takes in some of the most iconic natural reserves in the world: in the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro, we will cover Tarangire National Park, Manyara National Park, the Ngoro Ngoro crater that will remind you of the original Garden of Eden, and the infamous Serengeti. Our accommodations are all top of the line and include treetop huts, colonial stye lodges, and luxury tented camps.
We will wrap up the trip with a flight to the dreamy island of Zanzibar for some downtime on the sandy white beaches in a beautiful resort hotel, and including guided visits of Stonetown and excursions by boat to the sand bars and for swimming with dolphins.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Arusha, known as the safari capital of northern Tanzania, and resting at the foot of Mount Meru and in the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro. Transfer and checkin at the Four Points by Sheraton The Arusha Hotel. Depending on the time of arrival, either rest and enjoy the pool at the hotel, take a tour of the city, or take a drive outside to get closer views of Kilimanjaro. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 2
After breakfast, we begin our safari with a drive towards Tarangire National Park (2 hours drive). Tarangire is known for the diversity of wildlife that can be spotted, but also for its spectacular baobab trees. Large herds of elephants and migratory wildebeest, as well as zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest and eland gather here. Not surprisingly the predators follow, with lion being among the most commonly spotted animal. Overnight at the Tarangire Kuro Treetops Lodge. Picnic lunch during the game drive, and dinner at the lodge.
Day 3In the morning, we take a short drive to the Lake Manyara National Park, famous for its stunning views, tree-climbing lions, and pink flamingoes that cover the lake. We will also spare some time to enjoy our next lodge where we will spend the night, the Lake Manyara Kilimamoja Lodge. Picnic lunch and dinner at the lodge.
Day 4After breakfast we drive towards the Ngorongoro crater (1.5 hours) for a game drive and wildlife watching with picnic lunch. This amazing and vast volcano crater with its lakes and huge diversity of animals will feel like the original Garden of Eden…In the afternoon we continue crossing the highlands of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area to the entrance of the legendary Serengeti National Park (2 hours drive). We continue the game drive towards our accommodation, the Ole Serai Luxury Camp Turner Springs.
We will have a private and special dinner in the bush.
Day 5We will dedicate the day to exploring the Serengeti Park, the most famous park of all Africa, and which, with an area of more than 15,000 square kilometers, is the setting for the huge animal migrations. This picture-perfect landscape is characterised by endless stretches of savannah-covered open plains interspersed by rocky outcrops of granite and scattered with acacia woodlands and covered in a network of rivers and streams. The Central Serengeti forms part of the great wildebeest and zebra migration and provides an ideal habitat for a variety of wildlife such as giraffe, impala, waterbuck, hippo, buffalot, elephant, lion, leopard, hyena, jackal, serval and much more.
As an optional extra, you can book a sunrise balloon ride over the plains, an experience that is hard to capture in words…
Dinner and overnight at the Ole Serai Luxury Camp Turner Springs.
Day 6In our final morning in the Serengeti, you can either enjoy a lazy morning at our hotel, or go for an early morning final game drive. We will then transfer by 11 AM to the nearby airstrip for our flight that will take us directly to Zanzibar.
In Zanzibar, transfer to the beautiful Gold Zanzibar Resort in Kendwe for a relaxing afternoon on the beach or by the pool. In the evening, we can take an optional excursion to nearby Nungwi, the center of nightlife and beach parties in Zanzibar.
Day 7We will start with an excursion by boat to the sandbars and to hopefully swim with some dolphins, before having lunch on the beach on one of the smaller islands. We then return to Zanzibar and the hotel to change, before proceeding to Stonetown for a guided walking tour of this town where several civilizations and styles are juxtaposed. We will then enjoy a sunset drink, before returning to the hotel.
Day 8This is a free day to enjoy the pool and beach, or return to Stonetown for some shopping. For lunch, we will have reservations at the iconic The Rock restaurant, a must-see in Zanzibar!
Day 9Checkout and transfer to Zanzibar airport for departure.
