Japan 2024

Last October, we traveled to Japan during the fall foliage season, surrounded by stunning landscapes painted in vibrant autumn colors. But it wasn’t just nature that dazzle us—we explored the many faces of Japan itself: from the legacy of samurai and shoguns to futuristic tech, from Zen temples to kawaii pop culture, and from elegant tea ceremonies to a private dinner with Geishas in Kyoto. We soaked in the country’s rich contrasts, iconic sights, and remarkable cuisine.

We kicked off the journey with 5 days in Tokyo and the Mount Fuji region, then went inland towards the Japanese Alps and walked the historic Nakasendo trail towards the charming Edo-era village of Tsumago. After a stop at the fairytale-like Shirakawa-go, a UNESCO World Heritage site, we made our way to Kanazawa for a classic ryokan stay. The adventure continued in Kyoto, where we explored its majestic temples, serene gardens, and geisha quarters. We spent a day in Nara, then a lively night in Osaka, before ending in Hiroshima and Miyajima. Overall, a trip that everyone agreed was one of those lifetime highlights!
