Mongolia
One of the last frontiers…
Mongolia is one of the few places left on Earth where one can encounter intact cultures, ancient history, and big unspoiled spectacular landscapes. Two weeks of traveling by 4×4 cars to places like the Gobi Desert, Karakorum (the ancient capital of Genkhis Khan), and the Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur Lake, left us in places so remote and empty that there was no sign of people or man-made structures all around to the horizon- only horses and yaks roaming the lands!
We stayed in a combination of ultra-luxurious 5-star camping lodges and ger tourist camps, and were hosted for one night with a local herding family; in all cases, a truly immersive cultural experience that’s hard to find somewhere else!
