Embark on a spectacular train-hopping journey through the Swiss-Italian Alps, where stunning spring landscapes await. Ride the iconic Bernina and Glacier Express trains over bridges and through tunnels, passing snow-capped peaks, crystal-clear lakes, and deep dramatic valleys. Along the way, explore the charm of Alpine resort towns like St. Moritz and Zermatt, and enjoy two days in Lucerne, one of Switzerland’s most beautiful towns. The trip begins and ends in Milano, and includes a stop in romantic Verona before making its way into Switzerland. This is a scenic trip through some of Europe’s most enchanting mountain vistas and idyllic towns, perfect for travelers seeking both beauty and disconnection.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 April 18Arrival in Milan by mid day. Transfer by private bus from Milan airport to Verona (approximately 2.5 hours). Free afternoon to explore the city, and overnight at the Hotel Accademia.
Day 2 April 19
Private 3 hour walking tour of charming Verona, home of Romeo and Juliet. In the afternoon, take a private bus to Tirano, a crossroads of culture between Italy and Switzerland, and known as the starting point of the spectacular red Bernina Express train. Tirano is an art city full of palaces, churches, small squares and fountains, and one of the richest historical centers in the Alps. Overnight in Tirano at the Hotel Centrale.
Day 3 April 20In the morning, board the famous Bernina Express that runs along a UNESCO World Heritage Site railway, and cross the Swiss Alps towards St. Moritz while enjoying the spectacular views. The ride takes approximately 2.5 hours, after which we checkin at the Hotel Chesa Languard in St. Moritz, the famous glitzy resort. In the afternoon we will explore the town as well as take rides in a funicular train and gondola to enjoy the surrounding views. Overnight in St. Moritz.
Day 4 April 21On this day we take the Glacier Express from St. Mortitz towards Zermatt, for an 8.5 hour train ride through beautiful Swiss Alps landscapes admired from the panoramic windows of the train. The train crosses 291 bridges and 91 tunnels, making this one of the most beautiful train rides in the world. Zermatt is a beautiful resort town that sits in the shadow of the Matterhorn summit. Checkin at the Unique Hotel Post, and enjoy the town in the evening.

Day 5 April 22In the morning, take the Gornergat Cog Railway that climbs up to 3100 m and offers unforgettable views of the Matterhorn and other surrounding peaks. After an early lunch at the top, descend back to Zermatt where we take a private bus towards Lucerne, one of the most charming towns in Switzerland. Checkin for two nights at the Hotel Metropol.
Day 6 April 23This is a day to explore Lucerne and discover its streets of the old town. Take a boat ride on the lake and a guided walking tour of the old medieval town that sits amidst snowcapped mountains. Overnight in Lucerne.
Day 7 April 24Starting with a ferry boat on the lake, we then board yet another of Switzerland’s panoramic trains, the Gotthard Panorama Express ending in Lugano. From Lugano we take another short train ride ending back in Milano. Overnight in Milano.
Day 8 April 25Checkout and transfer to Milano airport for departure.Those who wish may spend a few extra days in Milano.

The price per person is Euros 4400 on a double occupancy basis, and Euros 5400 in single occupancy.

Payment and Terms

This trip is open for reservation. Final deadline for registering is Nov 30, 2025.

Group Size: Only 10 spots are available

Terms

  1. To confirm your spot, a down payment of Euros 1250 is requested. Second payment (50%) by January 31. Balance by March 15.
  2. Trip will be cancelled if the  group size of 10  is not reached by November 30. All down payments will be returned in that case.
  3. The downpayment is non-refundable once a group of 10 has been formed and confirmed, unless a replacement guest is found.
  4. Cancellation before Jan 15: non-refundable down-payment.
  5. Cancellation between Jan 16 and Feb 28: 50%, unless a replacement guest is found.
  6. Cancellation between March 1 and March 31: 75% unless a replacement guest is found.
  7. Cancellation between April 1 and April 18: 100% unless a replacement guest is found.
  8. Payments can be made in USD; final balance is calculated according to the overall price of the trip and exchange rate at the time of the start of the trip.
  9. This trip involves several trains, some of which might change their schedule. Minor changes to the schedule and/or hotels are possible.
  10. Hotel upgrades are possible if desired.
