Sailing Down the Nile
| December 3 – 9 2023
An iconic trip in every way, a cruise down the Nile in Upper Egypt should be on everyone’s bucket list. We start with a couple of days in Nubia in Aswan, where we will visit the colorful Nubian villages, the iconic Old Cataract Hotel, and of course the impressive Abu Simbel temple. We then board our private “dahabeyya” (sailboat) and begin the 4-day cruise towards Luxor. Along the way, we visit several ancient Egyptian temples while enjoying the serene rural landscapes rolling slowly by, and even stopping in a couple of spots to take a dip in the Nile. We end with a night in Luxor to visit the awe-inspiring Karnak and Luxor temples, and the West Bank with the Valley of the Kings.
As an optional two days at the end of this trip, we can arrange visits to the Dandara and Abydos temples north of Luxor. These are some of the most well preserved and impressive Ancient Egyptian temples, yet are always missed by the regular tourist cruise route due to their location outside the main circuit; but they are certainly well worth the detour.
